You might find it irresistible to chew ice after drinking your favorite drinks on a hot summer. As much as ice is sweet, chewing on it can cause damage to your teeth. Therefore, there is every reason you should avoid chewing ice in the summer.
Tooth Enamel Damage
The enamel is the outer layer of your teeth. Tasked with protecting the tooth, the enamel is the hardest tissue in your body. It protects the tooth from sugars and foods that can damage the teeth. Without this covering, your tooth could easily break and decompose. When you chew on ice, it could damage the enamel. As a result, you will experience tooth pain and increased cases of tooth sensitivity. This is because the dentin beneath the enamel will be exposed, making the tooth sensitive.
