|You have brushed your teeth at least twice a day since you were a child. You also floss each night before you go to bed. If that is all that your daily routine consists of then you are missing out.
Mouthwash should be part of what you do each day as well. It is not just for people who want fresh breath. There are many benefits to mouthwash, especially for your gums.
Your mouth is filled with bacteria. Certain foods, especially those that are high in sugar, can cause the bad bacteria in your mouth to multiply. That can lead to cavities, but it can also lead to gum disease. Brushing your teeth can remove a lot of the bad bacteria from your teeth, but it is more difficult to remove it from your gums.
With mouthwash, it is easy to do. All that you need to do is to swish for 30 seconds to a minute, and then spit it out. Your mouth will feel fresh, and you will know that you did something that is good for your gums.
When looking for the right mouthwash, it is not a bad idea to look for a brand that is free of alcohol. The alcohol in most mouthwashes can feel as if it is burning your mouth. If you have a canker sore in your mouth, mouthwash with alcohol will make it hurt more, while mouthwash without alcohol might help it to heal.
